THE HORSE BOY

by | Read by Rupert Isaacson

Biography & Memoir • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

This is the inspiring story of how the author and his wife tried to find a cure for their son Rowan's autism using a combination of horses and shamanic healing in Outer Mongolia. Often authors should not read their own books, but Rupert Isaacson is an outstanding narrator. He has a beautifully clean English accent, excellent diction and pacing, and a soothing tone that sometimes belies his bubbling emotions. He attempts to re-create minor characters' voices and Rowan's tantrums but is at his best when he describes the striking Mongolian landscape or simply tells us his story. In the end, we learn about the healing power of love, persistence, and, perhaps, a bit of magic. R.I.G. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2009]
