TED KENNEDY The Dream That Never Died

by | Read by Arthur Morey

Biography & Memoir • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

Klein's biography of the Massachusetts senator praises its subject but still manages to cover him “warts and all,” not turning away even from his responsibility for a death. Klein's take is that Kennedy has finally, to a great degree, risen above his many failings and has played a historic role in an important arena, the U.S. Senate. Arthur Morey's engaging, slightly hoarse voice reflects a sympathetic understanding of Klein's text, mirroring its feelings and judgments, including admiration and sadness. He narrates as if he’s telling us the story so that his expressiveness and skillful modulations of tone seem entirely natural. His reading may make both the biography and its subject more likable than they would otherwise seem. W.M. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2009]
