This novel of passion and grief is strikingly realistic. In a unique format five narrators each speak the role of a character. Nora Mahler and her family agonize over the loss of her teenaged son, Simon, in a riding accident on the family ranch. Narrators Susie Breck, Sandra Burr, Kate Reinders, Buck Schirner and Kurt Schroeder communicate the emotional upheaval of this incident with perceptive feeling. Their voices lyrically define each personality as the drama unfolds.
