Randolph’s accessible biography of Du Bois is complemented by Roscoe Orman's deep voice. With language and style directed towards youth, Randolph conveys the factual elements of Du Bois's life and his significance in the African-American struggle for civil rights. While children will enjoy this as a first foray into Du Bois, adults can enjoy it as a refresher on the major elements of Du Bois's life. Most useful are clarifying facts and definitions, essentially footnotes, throughout the production, which are indicated by a soft chime and an uncredited voice. Orman's tone for the narrative proves engaging and deliberate while the voice of the asides projects an appropriate matter-of-fact tone.
