Liz Connors loses her job as a freelance writer, but she soon finds herself working as a research assistant for true crime writer Griffin Marcus. Together, they set out to identify the Merrimack Valley Killer. The pacing of this single-voiced narration is appropriate for the presentation of the book. The characters quietly converse as they piece together the facts of ten murders. The pace quickens as the tension builds to the final murderous confrontation.
