OUT OF THE SHADOWS

Rachel's children want their mother to sell her home and move to cramped quarters elsewhere, but Rachel has decided to take a boarder and to do research on a family who lived in the house during WWII. Eleanor Bron handles the flashbacks from 1942 to the present with ease. She uses regional dialects with facility, and her greatest gift is allowing the author to describe the characters. They speak for themselves, and she guides them through the piece with comfortable control. She's so adept at her craft that the story lingers in the mind long after the last cassette is stored away.
