When we last heard from Superintendent Dalziel (aka The Fat Man), he had suffered serious injuries from a terrorist bomb blast. Now he’s convalescing in Sandytown, a seaside resort. But a murder is committed, and DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate. The Fat Man, though officially off duty, finds a way to involve himself in the case. Jonathan Keeble voices Dalziel with a deep, gravelly voice and a thick Yorkshire accent. He is less successful with the other voices, especially the female characters—one of which, Charlotte Heywood, plays a prominent part through emails to her sister. Still, Keeble delivers the humorous parts perfectly, and the tone and tempo match the writing. Fans of the series will especially enjoy this.
