The first book in a new series by this popular writer of romantic suspense takes place in the Vermont wilderness of Cameron Mountain. Carol Monda gives a solid performance, providing a steady pace and an appropriately ironic edge to the voice of Jo Harper, a disgraced Secret Service agent who has come to her cabin in the woods to reconnoiter. The irony lies in the fact that she’s come to pull herself together, but, as it turns out, her old flame, Elijah Cameron, has also returned to the area. The two are thrown together when a murdered ambassador's daughter goes missing, and they must struggle to find her before she falls prey to the elements or her father’s killers.
