DANCE WITHOUT END

by | Read by Laura Simms

Personal Growth • 1.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

Laura Simms tells stories about the creation and the origins of people from a number of cultures, including the Aztecs, Inuits, Maoris, Scandinavians, Africans, and Native Americans. Simms tells the tales with respect. Her storytelling is well paced, clear, and direct. The stories are accompanied by music composed and performed by Steve Gorn. In some tales the accompaniment provides sounds effects that may be a bit scary to very young children. In other cases, a musical interlude carries though the cultural theme. The combination of music and storytelling creates a mood suggestive of an elder surrounded by youngsters who are eager to learn of their culture. Simms plays that role with versatility and brings alive each of the short tales. J.E.M. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2010]
