A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, PART 1

by | Read by Geraldine Librandi

History • 18 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1980

This is revisionist history. It's that part of American history left out of schoolbooks including the genocide of the Native populations, the brutal slave trade, the conflict between the common man of the revolution and the new "American" elite, treatment of women, and the problems of labor. Part one covers early America to 1900. The narrator is very good, but the choice to do some passages in dialect and others unvoiced is inconsistent. The production values are excellent though marred by the absence of clear tape turning instructions. This would be a valuable addition to an American history collection.
