Mystery & Suspense • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

What’s the link between a copper bracelet found on the wrist of a would-be killer in the south of France and a construction project in Kashmir? In this international thriller—which moves from France to London, from Florida to Russia and beyond—16 authors riff on this enigma as the stakes rise and the plot thickens. Bringing back Harold Middleton and his group, "the volunteers" from 2007's CHOPIN MANUSCRIPT, this serial audiobook taunts and teases, but some listeners may find that the chapters are uneven and the story comes up short. Narrator Alfred Molina, however, keeps the story's complications interesting with a top-notch reading. Molina's accents make this sound like a full-cast recording; his perfect pacing and tone keep this melodrama engaging.
