THE KILLING OF THE TINKERS

Jack Taylor left Galway for London at the conclusion of THE GUARDS (2003). Now, after a failed marriage, he's back home in this 2004 noir. The local police aren't interested in who's killing the city's tinkers (gypsies). But Jack needs money because he's back on coke and booze, so he agrees to help. Ken Bruen is a unique author who combines Jack’s poetic musings on his favorite books with the requisite brutal individuals, vicious behavior, and black humor of the noir genre. Narrator Gerry O'Brien perfectly accommodates this wide range. Whether quoting beautifully from Thomas Merton or graphically describing thuggery, his delivery is spot-on and engaging.
