POINT LAST SEEN

Nyala reads with the same steely determination that apparently saw her through an abusive marriage and after-marriage when she was trying to regain custody of her children. In this account, she wanders through a discussion of her marriage and, to a lesser extent, the childhood that helped to mold her into a search-and-rescue tracker. Her voice rings true with the fear, hope and persistence that allowed her to break away from her past. Following the book, a brief interview deals primarily with how she happened to write the book. Of more interest would have been an explanation of how she came to feel safe enough to write her story, since details of the resolution of her relationship with her abusive ex-husband are quite vague.
