A GOOD SCHOOL

With a broad cast of characters to capture, Kristoffer Tabori wields his voice like a paintbrush in this engrossing audio production, creating images that emphasize the hazards of navigating human relationships in all their forms. The plot unfolds as a series of vignettes at a middling boarding school in the early years of WWII. This setting allows Tabori’s narration to move from student to teacher to staff member’s spouse with gusto. Adults and students alike struggle with their places in the school and in the world as a whole, and Tabori provides the necessary vocals to make each character’s concerns realistic. He blusters and sneers, taunts and snivels, wheedles and dismisses with the most distinctive of voices, and the listener reaps the benefits.
