Skimming blithely over the surface details of his life, Michael York's rich, plummy voice and perfect diction overwhelm his rather arch prose. After covering his birth and fairly standard English boyhood, what interesting material there is begins with his acting career. Events are preordained, superficial and cloyingly optimistic.
