PUNTER'S TURF

David Tredinnick's performance is all wisecracks and attitude as he creates the Australian character of John Punter. Punter (PUNTER'S LUCK), one-time jockey hopeful, is a professional gambler, sometimes investigator, and general good guy. When bookie Big Oakie White's daughter is snatched by kidnappers, he calls Punter to find her. Further misfortunes plague track denizens: A trainer experiences an unusual string of bad luck, a jockey is killed under suspicious circumstances, and Punter finds his own life in jeopardy as he's drawn deeper into the investigation. Peter Klein reflects a keen eye for detail and a precise ear for dialogue.
