Mark Genevich, an unsuccessful P.I., has suffered from narcolepsy for 10 years. He’s desperate for friendship, and when Gus, whom he meets at a group therapy session, invites him out for a drink, he goes. Thus begins a quirky mystery that includes drugs, murder, and violence. Genevich tells the story, which consists mainly of his thoughts about what is going on, and Stephen Thorne does a nice job of getting into his character. Some of the other characters are fully drawn, others more mildly differentiated. Thorne handles the many humorous moments well, especially when Genevich has rational conversations during a narcoleptic attack, none of which he remembers upon awakening.
