Cassandra Campbell's smooth, rich voice and eloquent delivery lend themselves perfectly to this latest Raleigh Harmon novel. Raleigh, a young, beautiful FBI agent specializing in forensic geology, is back home in Richmond, Virginia, after her having been banished to the FBI's Seattle office. A cross burning at Rapland, a historic mansion now owned by a Northern celebrity, requires all Raleigh's talents to solve, while testing her faith, character, and mettle. Although a little slow, the story is enhanced by Campbell's creative narration and unique voices and accents. Touches of sentimentality add to the overall experience, which is somber but heartwarming. The only negative is the author interview and the promotion of her other books at the beginning of the audiobook. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2010]
