REBOUND: THE ODYSSEY OF MICHAEL JORDAN

by | Read by Bob Greene

Biography & Memoir • 3 hrs. • Abridged • © 1995

This idolatrous biography tells the story of Michael Jordan's hiatus from basketball, a self-imposed exile inspired, at least in part, by the untimely death of his father. A fast-paced jazz score introduces the first side, and the text is briskly and clearly recited by the author. The voice, a slightly nasal, Midwestern tenor, is reverential, but narrow in range. Occasional gaps in the time line suggest artifacts of abridgment. The presentation is otherwise unadorned with music or sound, creating a workmanlike, but listenable, portrait, less telling, however, than the cover photograph by Annie Leibowitz. For the true fan, this tape provides insight into the psychology of a great athlete. J.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPT 96]
