BIG NATE In A Class by Himself

The BIG NATE comic strip characters are all here: persevering middle school student Nate Wright, unrequited love interest Jenny, perfect student Arthur, brainy Gina, teachers Mrs. Godfrey and Mr. Galvin, and Principal Nichols. Here creator Lincoln Peirce ventures into chapter-book format. The story starts with Nate receiving a fortune cookie that predicts, “Today you will surpass all others.” But it doesn’t take long to see where Nate’s unfortunate day is headed! Fred Berman meets the challenge of bringing such a varied and well-known cast to life. He is an effervescent Nate—excitable, eager, always optimistic—and he tailors his intonation and pace to each of the other characters as well. The Wimpy Kid has company!
