TIME, FLOW SOFTLY All the Rivers Run, Book 2

This Australian classic is set along the Murray River in the early twentieth century. Kate Hosking’s clear voice and lovely Aussie accent add depth and atmosphere to Cato’s story of Philadelphia (Delie) Gordon and her many children. Hosking creates distinct vocal characterizations and enlivens the frequent dialogue. The drudgery of housework, even on the little riverboat, and the work of raising a family are convincingly portrayed as the necessities of a conventional life, which Delie desperately tries to escape. These are contrasted with Delie’s passion for painting, which is made palpable by Hosking’s energetic voice as she describes the panoramic countryside and winding rivers of Australia.
