DOCTOR WHO: THE AMBASSADORS OF DEATH

This classic audio program pits the iconic Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and his UNIT colleagues against a shadowy conspiracy involving three mysterious, deadly figures who return to Earth in place of some kidnapped astronauts. The seven episodes of the original television serial are presented with crisp, clean sound and effective timing. The cast, particularly Caroline John as Liz Shaw, the Doctor's intrepid assistant; Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart; and Pertwee's forceful, mercurial Doctor, is in full voice. Whitaker's script draws upon classic “first-contact” tropes to provide the listener with a thoroughly enjoyable flashback to the early days of televised science fiction.
