RITA DOVE II & BARRY LOPEZ

These two selections, from an extensive collection of author interviews from the radio program “New Letters on the Air,” show careful production. Rebekah Presson lets her subjects talk at length about and read substantial segments from their work. The listener gets a strong impression of both the writer and the writing. The interview with Barry Lopez has a formal quality and focuses on dicussion of Crow and Weasel, Lopez’s novel for young people about a vision quest. Rita Dove discusses the development of her poetry and new possiblities she discovered after writing the novel, Through the Ivory Gate. Presson adds notes about the authors at the end.
