Laural Merlington has narrated many of Lindsey’s historical romances—including several of the Malory stories. Here Merlington portrays 21-year-old Julia Miller, heiress to a merchant empire who is looking for love. One can sense a woman full of strength and determination beneath her proper demeanor. Richard Allen is a deep-voiced pirate with a voice full of amusement and excitement. At first, Merlington’s narration sounds a bit uneven, with Julia and her best friend, Georgina Malory, sounding more like children than adult women. But Merlington quickly settles into a rhythm, creating voices of more depth and character and navigating seamlessly among the variety of English and American accents.
