THE BEST OF PLAYBOY FICTION Volume 1

by | Read by David Dressel, Dale Hull, Bill Weideman, Steve Yankee, David Colacci

Fiction • • Anthology • ©

Michael Crichton's "The Most Powerful Tailor in the World" is a fantastic opener for the Playboy fiction series. David Dressel's announcer-like baritone tells the quirky story of a tailor/terrorist who threatens the White House and the scientist who saves the day. In "Used in Evidence", Dale Hull's light Irish brogue fleshes out the setting of a construction site murder mystery. Bill Weideman plays the range of emotions and characters in "King Bee" by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the disturbing story of an adopted boy obsessed with beesSand killing his parents. Catch-22's lost chapter is regained in Joseph Heller's "Yossarian Survives", wherein Steve Yankee brings to life the hero's witty attempt to avoid army exercise. Finally, justice is served--sort of--in Westlake's clever tale (performed admirably by David Colacci) about a criminal being accused of a petty crime he didn't commit.
