RUBY 5 The Land of Zootz

This innovative science-fiction series about a tough-skinned but sexy intergalactic private eye wows listeners with well-produced sound effects and recording quality, but lacks definition with regard to its intended audience. At first, the quirky voices seem to lend themselves perfectly to children's radio theater, but the slightly risqué character names ("Angel Lips, the irresistible android" and "Jose 'Hot Stuff' Sanchez, the Latin Love Android," for example) and chapter titles such as "Shall I Unzip?" raise questions that distract from the overall performance.
