RUMER GODDEN A Storyteller's LIfe

by | Read by Carole Boyd

Biography & Memoir • 12 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1998

Biographer Anne Chisholm captures the excitement, drama and emotion of author Rumer Godden's turbulent life, her charmed childhood in India, her failed marriage, her successful writing career. Godden's life is a whirlwind of a story, captured beautifully by Carole Boyd's careful, measured reading. Her lively performance alternates between straight narrative quoting from letters, and dialogue--all is done clearly and seamlessly. Boyd's accents are admirable. This is a great accomplishment considering the international cast of characters. Her American accents, however, are all extremely nasal. All in all, the story of Godden's rise to bestselling author makes for an engrossing listening experience, thanks to the combined talents of Chisholm's writing and Boyd's narration.
