DOCTOR MARGARET'S SEA CHEST

Dr. Margaret’s mid-nineteenth-century voice intrigues the listener as she gets her medical degree and marries her sweetheart and cousin, Robert. The next part of the story is told by Indian-American Dr. Sharif, who has been asked to return a chest, discovered in 1965 in a Delhi hospital, to Dr. Margaret’s family in the U.S. What happens in between transports the listener back and forth in time and place—to the Crimean War, Canada, the U.S.—with characters Indian, Scottish-American, and Russian. This would be a perfect vehicle for a multicast narration, but it’s just Elizabeth Terry who delivers this oft-confusing tale. She seems most at home in the voice of Margaret.
