THE DJANGO

by | Read by Steven Boyer

Children Ages 4-6 • 15 mins. • Unabridged • © 2010

Audio is the perfect medium for this children’s story about a boy who loves music. The main character, inspired by early-twentieth-century jazz musician Jean “Django” Reinhardt, is reminiscent of any child who sometimes lets his or her imagination run wild. Little Jean keeps getting blamed for the mischief being caused by a “django,” a creature only he can see. The audiobook allows the listener to hear the music, particularly the sounds of the banjo, that plays a central role in the story. While narrator Steven Boyer falls a bit flat when voicing the django, his slow, even tone makes the story an easy listen for children of all ages.
