Did you ever really connect with a person? I mean, really and truly with heart and mind connect with someone to the point where it seemed like you were born to be friends—or more—with that certain person? According to this audiobook, that’s called “clicking,” and there are some surprisingly complex social, biological, and cultural forces behind this phenomenon. To carry the idea one step further, narrator Rob Shapiro “clicks” with this work. His voice is low, relaxed, and comfortable, with a hint of gravel at the lower end, and he unravels the scientific data in a way that is accessible and engaging. Shapiro’s easy, friendly manner complements the book’s tone, and he pauses at just the right moments to allow us to reflect on what he’s said.
