Ian McKellen’s voice holds the perfect balance of mystery and struggle as the final chapter in this series unfolds. His voicing of Wolf's grief at losing his family is particularly intense. Fans of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series will find this a satisfying, albeit drawn-out, conclusion. Newcomers should begin at the beginning, as not even Sir Ian’s expert narration can make up for the missing pieces. The complexities of the backstory mean that no title in the series can stand alone.
