SELECTED SHORTS: EVEN MORE LAUGHS

This collection of eight humorous short stories assembles selections from the best of NPR’s popular, award-winning series “Selected Shorts.” EVEN MORE LAUGHS boasts pieces ranging from ironic to satirical to fall-on-the-floor funny. T. Coraghessan Boyle's “The Lie,” read by Stephen Colbert, details a hilariously tangled web of deceit, and Miranda July's “The Swim Team,” read by Parker Posey, teaches swimming to seniors—without a pool. Marian Seldes is outstanding in Saki's “The Schartz-Metterklume Method,” in which a case of mistaken identity has riotous results; Christine Baranski performs Thomas Meehan's “Yma Dream,” a story of a nightmarish cocktail party in which Baranski’s timing and articulation are priceless; and Jerry Zaks wonderfully inhabits Philip Roth’s “The Conversion of the Jews,” about a Jewish boy in a religious crisis.
