THE SCIENCE OF PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT

by | Read by Napoleon Hill

Personal Growth • 6 hrs. • Audio Program • ©

Napoleon Hill, who died in 1970 at the age of 87, was surely the grandfather of the personal development movement. His enormously popular book, Think and Grow Rich, still in print and widely regarded, was published in 1937. Hill's major principles, including rules of success from Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison and the Mayo brothers, are arranged by topics. The program consists of portions of Hill's radio broadcasts with brief introductions by a contemporary narrator. Hill's broadcasts are remarkably clear, given the age of the broadcast transcriptions, but his presentations are very dated. A grating example to a contemporary listener is his treatment of women only as adjuncts to successful men. Hill has a high-pitched, reedy voice (very much like Ross Perot's). Unfortunately, it obscures the meaning and impact of this production. B.V. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT 93]
