THE SCREAMING SKULL & THE OLD NURSE'S STORY

Once one has made a mental adjustment to its dated sound quality, "vintage" radio drama can be surprisingly effective. Good writing and good acting don't go out of date, and they don't require state-of-the-art technology to be appreciated. The two half-hour productions on this cassette were well worth restoring for a new generation of listeners. Based on finely wrought short stories, they are plays for VOICES; sound effects and sonic ambiance are of secondary importance. The performances are very fine.
