Euna Lee, a film editor and young mother, shares her struggles with her personal priorities, journalistic principles, and religious faith. Her dramatic imprisonment when she and her colleagues (including reporter Laura Ling) strayed into North Korea in 2009 while on assignment was the focus of worldwide attention. But listeners hoping for insight into life in this mysterious country or a detailed account of Lee’s trial and eventual release will be disappointed. Janet Song manages to convey some emotion as she narrates Lee's grief at her separation from family and friends and her joy upon being reunited. But her performance, although competent, does little to add to the audio experience. M.O.B. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2011]
