SEVEN DAYS TO PETROGRAD

by | Read by Sam Gray

Mystery & Suspense • 15.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1988

This unusual historical thriller concerns the rise of bolshevism and its impact on the outcome of World War I. In the early 1960's the head of the CIA uncovers the diary of a man hired to assassinate Lenin. The intricate story revolves primarily around this American assassin and the German officer charged with protecting Lenin. The listener comes to root for both men. Gray's narration is appropriate for the sometimes stiff prose although his subtle voicing occasionally causes confusion. The complex nature of the story requires close listening, and his leisurely pacing is very helpful; moreover, he handles the few action scenes very well.
