SUPERMAN: ON TRIAL

Technically, SUPERMAN ON TRIAL is an excellent production. Written and produced by Dirk Maggs and starring a full cast, it’s full of memorable acting, cool music, and pitch-perfect sound effects. It’s fine, provided the listener doesn’t expect a coherent plot. Shelley Thomas, William Hootkins, Stuart Milligan, and the rest play their roles well, but the story line is ridiculous. Superman is on trial for adversely affecting the human race, and his lawyer is Lois Lane? The prosecutor is Lex Luthor? Superman and Clark Kent grew up as brothers on the Kent farm? Very little in the book makes sense, no matter how well it’s delivered. It's nonsense in a pretty package that will confuse anyone who has even a passing knowledge of Superman.
