Jennifer Van Dyck does a terrific job with characterizations as she fleshes out Eve Duncan and Catherine Ling, two strong women who have tragically lost their children. Eve, a forensic sculptor, and Catherine, a CIA agent, quickly bond, and Eve is drawn into Catherine’s search for her missing son, who is quite possibly dead. As the action moves from Colombia to Russia, the two women carry out a compelling investigation. Van Dyck reads more expressively as the tension builds, yet her characterizations are entertaining and charming. Van Dyck’s performance will make listeners eager for the next installment from Johansen. S.C.A. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2010]
