SHERLOCK HOLMES TALES OF AVARICE

Edward Hardwicke’s performance of these three tales of avarice makes the listener hear the familiar Sherlock Holmes with fresh interest. In each story, Hardwicke portrays the venerable detective; his assistant, Dr. Watson; and several other characters with a skill that captures the essence of each personality. Hardwicke’s voice adorns the text as he shapes each phrase so that the narration and dialogue exude such feelings as comfort, sincerity, portent, amazement, and, quite definitely, civility in the face of heinous crimes.
