THE LAST INNOCENT MAN

by | Read by Christopher Lane

Mystery & Suspense • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2010

Though it was written more than 20 years ago, THE LAST INNOCENT MAN still maintains its vitality. It's a bit of a slow starter, but once it gets going, the listener becomes entranced with the multiple issues presented. Christopher Lane's narration gets one through the talky prose, and his character depictions are versatile. Among others, Lane plays defense attorney David Nash, who is at the pinnacle of his career. He's called upon to defend a civil attorney for the rape and murder of a policewoman, who at the time of her death was posing as a prostitute. Lane excels at several characters, in particular a sardonic guilty ex-client, for whom Nash won an acquittal, and a rough-around-the-edges private eye. The ending leaves most issues resolved and the listener satisfied. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2011]
