THE SHOBIE'S STORY

For listeners who relish keeping the science in science fiction, Le Guin's novella keeps the techies happy. The crew of a test flight experiments with a new stardrive. Bruce offers a clear, direct narration and handles a wealth of unusual vocabulary. The crew and their families include young children, whom Bruce handles ably, making them ring with youthful stridency. The technical production is not up to par with that of the Star Trek series, but it's also not the focus of the story.
