The killer strangles his victims, then cuts off their hands, leaving one at the site of his next gruesome homicide. Why? Joyce Bean portrays Nashville detective Taylor Jackson with an understated performance of an underwritten plot. Bean refrains from layering on too much Southern drawl, imparting just enough character to her protagonist while giving minor characters, especially the morally compromised, a bit more exaggeration. Bean’s subtle delivery of narrative maintains the suspense. Those seeking light entertainment will find the production satisfying, but those with a hankering to figure out a challenging mystery may want more.
