Mystery & Suspense • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

This is the second in a projected series featuring a barrister with an office on Baker Street, London, and his solicitor brother. Shades of Sherlock Holmes? Somewhat, but not a whole lot. Here the brothers deal with a murderer who believes he is an ancestor of Professor Moriarty. Simon Vance adds his low-key British voice to the proceedings, toning down the author’s efforts at suspense. Vance delivers American accents, among others, believably and accurately. The setting, is unlikely, and so is the plot, but Vance is good at pacing and intonation. This offering will hold the interest of those attracted by the title of the Sherlockian book.
