BOOK OF DAYS

by | Read by James L. Rubart

Inspirational Fiction • 11 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

[Editors' Note: The following is a combined review of ROOMS and BOOK OF DAYS]--The author's capable narration presents two suspenseful novels featuring characters who are facing down personal demons. ROOMS is an emotional story of life-altering choices, and BOOK OF DAYS recounts a son's fear of inheriting his father's Alzheimer's disease. Speaking in a strong, deep voice, Rubart starts ROOMS with an easygoing narration that soon changes to tones of mystery when a house on the Oregon coast takes on a secret life of its own. In BOOK OF DAYS Rubart’s pace slows as a father warns a young man to "find the book of days" minutes before he dies. The action of both novels comes near the end when Rubart's even pace switches to short, punchy sentences. While ROOMS builds to a tense conclusion, BOOK OF DAYS is for listeners willing to wait for the climactic action. G.D.W. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2011]
