REALITY IS BROKEN Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World

by | Read by Julia Whelan

Contemporary Culture • 14 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

Julia Whelan’s clear and well-balanced delivery proves to be an asset to McGonigal’s comprehensive exploration of gaming and game culture. The author advocates engaging the gaming population, with its more than 500 million regular players, in a way that will refocus their efforts to resolve serious global problems through gaming. Though skeptics will be dubious, McGonigal’s research at least identifies a vast underused resource. Whelan has a refreshing voice that makes McGonigal’s points enjoyable. With her candid, personable tone, she generates McGonigal’s exuberance, making the book compelling but not preachy. L.E. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2011]
