Start listening and prepare to be unavailable to your other life. Luke Daniels is a terrific Joe Pike. His whispery yet masculine portrayal of Joe couldn’t feel more perfect for this ex-Delta Force, ex-mercenary, ex-cop really good guy with a single-mindedness of purpose that seems hardly human. Joe has accidentally taken on the burden of protecting a beautiful young woman who is not at all what she seems. Daniels maintains all the appropriate excitement and action with his superior voice and pacing. A minor criticism is that it's hard to credit his New Orleans drawl, especially that of the female lead. It’s confusing as to whether she’s black or white.
