Slippery Jim DiGriz has just saved the world from a time-traveling madman. Now his vacation is interrupted by aliens abducting his wife, so he breaks his sons out of their scholastic Bastille and gives chase. Phil Gigante, having entirely too much fun, gives a deep, confident voice to a character who is supremely capable and always planning in the midst of mayhem. The book is peppered with dialogue that lacks identifying names, but each voice is individually distinguished. The aliens appear only briefly in a larger story, but they dominate the production. Gigante rasps and growls, effortlessly switching between narrative and bombastic inhuman gargling.
