AFTER THE FIRE, A STILL SMALL VOICE

by | Read by David Tredinnick

Fiction • 10.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

David Tredinnick is an excellent choice of narrator for this story of father and son and the wars that shaped them. Alternating between their experiences in Korea and Vietnam, Tredinnick breathes a visceral masculinity into this emotional work about their lifetime struggles to establish meaningful relationships following their wartime experiences. Tredinnick’s broad Australian accent aids in fleshing out the characters. He varies his delivery to indicate the musings and interior monologues of the main characters, which comprise much of the book. The novel’s vivid descriptions are delivered in a consistent, but somewhat repetitive, pattern of alternating emphases and pauses. M.R. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2011]
