SNOW IN APRIL

Caroline is going to marry, and her little brother Jody, 11 years old, begs her to take him to their older brother, who is in Scotland. They leave a springtime London to find a wintry Scotland and a frosty Scot. Hannah Gordon is a joy to listen to, a consummate actress, but the story blithers along, drowning in descriptive passages. When dialogue appears, Gordon springs forth in excellence. Happily, there's an abridged version of this. But what a shame to miss this reader.
