Unexplained suicides follow an inexplicable plane crash. Until the deaths are explained near the story's end, they prove especially chilling in light of the events of the Heaven's Gate cult. David Birney's portrayal of Joe Carpenter resonates with Carpenter's anguish over the death of his wife and daughters in the crash. At the same time, his anger and determination to solve the mystery balance his ever-present grief. Birney's years in the theater serve him well. Driving listeners will also appreciate the packaging, which provides easy, logical access to the cassettes, even in the dark. So what really did happen to Flight 800?
